The rise was driven by investors who are active on social media platforms like Reddit, StockTwits, Discord, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Investors on those platforms had encouraged the coordination of a 'short squeeze' where group of traders keeps buying the stocks which were sold by hedge funding organizations, thereby increasing the stock value which was intended to be shut down by the hedge funding companies.
